Biography

Pastors Lawrence and Dorothy Govan are visionaries after God’s own heart. They both bring to the ministry a uniqueness that only God could create. Their genuine love for God, care and concern for others, integrity, and determination to see that Kingdom of God advanced makes them a dynamic pair against any seen or unseen force that is not of God. They have been faithfully and happily married for the past 23 years and have two beautiful children, Shatovia and Shanard. They are a man and woman of God with a vision for life and a life of power.

Pastor Dorothy is a woman who if fully committed to the Lord and His work. She faithfully started working for God at the age of 18 and accepted her call to the ministry as a licensed evanglist at the age of 21. Pastor Dorothy has vast professional experiences working abroad and stateside in the human services field and serves the body of Christ as a Licensed Professional Group Leader, Workshop Facilitator and a Church Consultant.

She is a native of Port St. Joe, Florida. She attended the University of West Florida, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. In May 1996, she graduated from Virginia Union University School of Theology with a Master’s of Divinity Degree. She was ordained June 14, 1998 at Living Waters Christian Fellowship by her pastor, Bishop Steven W. Banks. Pastor Govan is most commended for her highly professional and energetic style. She is an anointed vessel, fit for God’s use, for such a time as this in the Kingdom of God.

Pastor Lawrence has served the body of Christ since childhood. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. His mother, Willie Mae Govan, often tells the story of how Pastor Lawrence was nearly born on the church pew. His story actually began while in his mother’s womb during a very difficult pregnancy. The saints of the old church prayed and fasted, “Lord, save him and anoint him for service”. God continues to manifest His glory through honoring those prayers. In 2000, he answered the call to Pastor and began to move into this God-given role. Bishop Steven W. Banks ordained him on April 19, 2002. He plays the guitar, and is well known as “Guitar Man” by many. More importantly, he is an even greater instrument in the hands of the Lord.

Pastor Lawrence is an anointed man of God who loves God with his total being. He is a mighty gift to the kingdom of God and a faithful example for other men. Pastor is a man of few spoken words but speaks to God and his people through his very spiritual being.

He ministered in the body of Christ over the last 18 years in various roles, such as Deacon; Choir Director; Musician for local, district and state choirs; Minister of Music; Men’s Ministry Head; Teacher; and now as role model and Pastor.

Pastor Lawrence has seen the world over and over again during his Naval career from which he retired in March 1998 after 20 years of service. He is a graduate of ECPI College of Technology and is currently employed by Schaevitz Sensors in Hampton, Virginia.

Together, Pastors Lawrence and Dorothy have a life giving, life changing vision and ministry from God. They have been called, chosen, anointed, and appointed by God for such a time as this. They are five-fold, powerful ministry gifts to the body of Christ. Their lives are filled with the power of God and all those that come in contact with them rarely remain the same!
